From 20 - 22 October 2025, the SmartCities & Sport Summit took place in Seoul, Republic of Korea, gathering more than 200 representatives from cities, sport organizations, and technology experts to explore how digital innovation is transforming sport, cities, and communities.
Hosted in one of the world's most connected and forward-thinking capitals, this year's summit focused on AI, IoT, big data, esports, and smart venues, with discussions centered on how technology can foster active living, sustainability, and citizen engagement.
During the session "Digital Toolbox: Using Smart Technology to Deliver a High-Tech Experience", Stacey Kim, Advisor for Event Management and International Affairs of TAFISA, presented the KESCAB Online Hub, a new digital platform that brings together knowledge, training, and collaboration tools to strengthen Sport for All capacity worldwide. The presentation showcased how digitalization can serve as a tool for inclusion, ensuring that learning and collaboration are accessible to everyone.
Unlike traditional e-learning systems, KESCAB connects people, knowledge, and initiatives across borders. Developed with the support of Erasmus+ and in partnership the project consortium, the platform will bridge digital and in-person learning, empowering practitioners to share experiences and resources that drive impact in their communities.
Throughout the Summit, discussions touched on the intersection of sport, urban innovation, and technology, from AI in sports performance to the social dimension of smart cities. The event encouraged participants to look beyond the technology itself, asking how it can enhance human connection, inclusion, and participation.
TAFISA extends its appreciation to the World Union of Olympic Cities and SmartCities & Sport for organizing this year's Summit and for providing an inspiring platform to exchange ideas on the future of sport and urban innovation.
